On November 8, YG Entertainment confirmed that CL will not renew her contract with the agency and will leave the agency. The agency released an official statement regarding the departure of CL.

“Hello. This is YG Entertainment.
We and CL came to an agreement to end her exclusive contract, in respect to each other’s opinions.
We would like to express deep gratitude to the fans who have shown for CL, who has been brilliant member of YG.
In 2009, CL debuted as a member of 2NE1 at YG, and has been leader and rapper, led trends in various areas such music and fashion. She also left a major mark in the history of K-pop when she became the first Korean solo female artist to chart in the Billboard Hot 100 on October 12, 2016.
We ask for lots of interest and support for CL’s new activities, and YG will also cheer her on with unchanging trust and affection.
